Convention season is almost wrapping up, and anime fans from around the world rely on their local anime clubs to keep them informed of events happening in their local area to fill that convention and festival void. One thing to watch for are the limited releases of anime films. Last month in North America we enjoyed Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, and this September, we will be looking forward to Road to Ninja – Naruto the Movie. You may want to see if it’s playing in your area, and grab members of your club to go see it.
Planning outings to anime films can be a perfect activity for anime clubs. In addition to the movie, you can make it a fun social outing by meeting for lunch or dinner before or after the movie. Most movie theaters offer many food and entertainment options, so the possibilities are endless for a fun get-together with your club.
As we approach the back to school season, college and school clubs will kick into high gear. If your looking for some ideas to start a club at your school or university, head over to our Club Starter Kit and Resources. We have resources and information on how to start your own anime club and ideas for bringing new life into an old anime club. You can also join our Yahoo Group, and ask a question, share a story on a successful club outing, and get some advice from veteran club owners.
When it comes to the anime that you show at your club meetings, it can be quite a challenge to keep up with new anime. From domestic DVD releases to simulcasts of anime currently airing in Japan it can be quite a challenge to keep track of it all. Thankfully we have resources such as AnimeCalendar, Anime News Network(upcoming and DVD releases), Neregate and AniChart to keep us looking like an anime aficionado.
We are still alive and well, and still taking club submissions. We currently have 50 anime clubs in our directory. If you haven’t added your club to our database, please do so as soon as possible!
Now would also be a great time to update your club listing information! Update your info here!
